Since 1942, Ludington, Michigan has been home to Dow Calcium Chloride, the world’s largest producer of calcium chloride. Dow's Ludington production site employs approximately 130 people and is located on an 83-acre site adjacent to Pere Marquette Lake and the Ludington harbor.
Calcium chloride brine is extracted from a local, naturally occurring reservoir that is found about a half mile below ground and produces a variety of liquid and solid calcium chloride products. These products, sold under the nationally recognized brands of PELADOW™, DOWFLAKE™ Xtra and LIQUIDOW™, are essential components of dozens of important applications, including snow and ice control, road construction and maintenance, and oil and gas refining.
